Kindergarten at Dunwoody UMC Preschool

Join us for a Kindergarten Information Meeting on Wednesday, November 13 at 9:15 a.m. Learn how DUMCP’s Cognia-Accredited Kindergarten classes compare to full day Kindergarten, including a comparison of daily schedules, curriculum goals, objectives, and materials. RSVP is requested, but not required to attend.

The Kindergarten program at DUMC Preschool prepares children to continue to 1st grade in area private and public schools, or to full day Kindergarten based on the child’s developmental needs and readiness.

  • Provides a small class-size
  • Two teachers in each class; 8:1 student/teacher ratio
  • Lead teachers are certified educators

Kindergarten Curriculum Highlights

Children engage in creative hands-on activities, music, science, social studies, math, language arts and handwriting. These experiences build concepts, develop problem solving skills, and encourage positive self-concept.

The school day also provides opportunities to expand play skills and cognition through participation in many activities provided in learning centers. A flexible schedule ensures a balanced day that provides energetic physical movement as well as periods of quiet activity.

Quick Facts

  • Offered to children age five by Sep. 1, 2025 for the 2025-2026 school year
  • School day is 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
  • Weekly Chapel led by Dunwoody UMC Kids Ministry
  • Extended Day program available until 2:30 p.m. (Monday – Thursday) and 1:45 p.m. (Friday)
